The area of a circle is the space enclosed by its boundary, given by A = πr², where r is the radius.
The working
Meaning
The area is the amount of flat surface inside the circle, measured in square units.
Formula
It is A = πr², where r is the radius and π ≈ 3.14 or 22÷7. In terms of diameter d, A = πd² ÷ 4.
Why r squared
Since area is a two-dimensional measure, it depends on the square of the radius, so doubling the radius makes the area four times larger.
Example
For a circle of radius 7 cm, A = (22÷7) × 7 × 7 = 154 cm².
