Answer

Molarity is the number of moles of solute dissolved per litre of solution, expressed in mol/L or M.

Definition

Molarity (M) is a concentration term giving the moles of solute present in one litre of the solution.

Formula

Molarity = moles of solute ÷ volume of solution in litres, or M = n/V.

Finding moles

Moles of solute = given mass ÷ molar mass, which you substitute into the molarity formula.

Temperature note

Molarity depends on temperature because the volume of solution changes when heated or cooled.
